Dichroic Glass (click)

Dichroic Glass is a brilliant glass that is coated in a vacuum chamber with layers of elements such as titanium, magnesium and zirconium. The most striking characteristic of dichroic glass is that is has a transmitted color and a completely different reflected color. And amazingly these colors shift depending on the angle of your view.
Since early childhood Celeste Stuhring has been creatively crafting art. She currently works on fusing and torching glass, jewelry making and writing books. Before pursuing a full-time career as an artist Stuhring worked as a Neonatal Nurse Specialist. She spent over 25 years working with premature infants under very stressful conditions. To cope with the stress, Stuhring searched for a hobby that would help her relax and open up her creative, fun spirit. Glass fusing filled that void. She finds it completely absorbing to be involved in the creative process of glass fusing.

"So far glass art has held her interest for the last ten years", says Stuhring. “Glass is a celebration of light and color that brings joy to my life. Glass is basically a liquid in a solid state. When light transmits rays through translucent glass it reminds me of water and is reflected in my work. The Fusing Glass process is a wonderful combination of art and science. It continues to challenge me and I can continue to grow in this medium for a long time, including the possibility of discovering a new technique!"

Stuhring studied with renowned glass artists of the craft including: Bill Ayers,Richard LaLonde, Gil Reynolds,Patty Gray, Avery Anderson, Jane Persico and Shirley Webster.

Creations include: one-of-a-kind fused glass masks, jewelry,
watches and bangle bracelets. She also makes mirrors, dishes, unique candle votives, home accents, sconces and tiles. Commissions are welcome. Most of her work is a splash of whimsy and color...lots of color. Dichronic Glass is added in unique combinations that transmits and reflects a variety of colors.

Currently her work is exhibited at Collage Gallery,Kirkland
Washington, Musings in Mill Creek, Washington and Blooming Hearts in Snohomish, Wa. You can visit her home studio every Mother's Day Weekend at the
